The Bishop Is Coming to St. Cross!

As I said last week, we have a busy fall season upon us. St. Cross Day this week, a shower the week following, the Bishop’s visit, Consecration Sunday. There are so many fun reasons to join us for church on Sunday, yet the main reason is to be transformed by God’s unfailing love for each of us.

Churches no longer have a bishop visit every year. We are lucky if we see a bishop every other year. Why would we care? Well, the answer is that there are some sacraments reserved for the bishop, and this included confirmation. Confirmation is an adult confession of our baptismal vows. Several of our older youth will be confirmed on this day. AND there are two other rites that our bishops do for those who were confirmed a looooong time ago and want a refresher course (Reaffirmation) or those coming from another denomination (Reception). To be confirmed, reaffirmed, or received, on Oct 8 when the bishop is here, you need to join us for a four-week class starting next Wednesday (9/13) at St. Cross at 7pm. We will discuss the Episcopal Church, our history, liturgy, prayer and more. Please let Rev. Stephen or Rev. Josh know if you are interested. We hope to see you there.

Don’t forget to wear your RED this Sunday in celebration of St. Cross Day. Lunch will be served after the 10am service. See you soon!
