Yesterday, we sent a post regarding communion during this time of concern about the coronavirus. Read that post here.
SET YOUR CLOCKS! This weekend, we "spring forward," turning our clocks ahead one hour on Saturday night. We'll be ready with a pot of coffee on Sunday morning!
St. Patrick's Day Parade - Sat., March 14: St. Pat's Parade Event on Facebook - St. Cross will once again be participating in the Hermosa Beach St. Patrick's Day parade on Saturday, March 14. We would love for you to join us! We need help decorating our entry in the St. Cross parking lot at 8:00 on Saturday morning and then we will move to our assigned parade spot on Valley Drive at 9:00. We particularly encourage families with children to engage with us and show our love of St. Cross by participating in this huge community event. For more information call or text Cameron Johnson (310) 415-0288 or e-mail her at [email protected].
Sociable Seniors Outing March 11: The Sociable Seniors are heading to Big Mike’s sandwich shop on 190th in Redondo Beach. We are going to get a behind the counter tour and have an information session about what it like to own a foodservice business in Los Angeles. Join us on March 11th. We are meeting at Big Mike’s at 11 AM.
St. Cross Endowment Fund Applications Due March 16: The Endowment Committee has just kicked off the mission grant process for 2020. This year we have over $9,000 available to help fund programs, projects and scholarships that support our St. Cross mission, parishioner education and the wider Christian community. Apply: stcross.org/endowment
Lenten Soup Supper and Program on Wednesdays in Lent: We are studying the book Being Mortal by Atul Gawande. We gather for dinner, discuss assigned chapters of the book and then close with Compline (note we will be doing Compline not Eucharist on Wednesdays in Lent). We hope that you will join us Wednesday evenings starting at 6 PM.
IMPORTANT REMINDER ABOUT EMAILS FROM CLERGY AND STAFF: Always check the "from" address when you get an email from anyone on staff at St. Cross! This week, an email that arrived in a few inboxes had Rev. Rachel's name, but the email address -- [email protected] -- is definitely not hers. Remember to always look for an email address that ends in @stcross.org; nobody on staff will ask you to send gift cards, especially randomly via email; and if in doubt, send a note to us here and we'll help you out!
