Notes for the New Year
Now that we have turned the page in our calendar to January 2021 we have several items for you to be aware of and to put on your calendar. First is that this Sunday we will be having Sunday School and Adult Education at 9 am. Start the new year out right with engaging your faith in a new way and join us. If fellowship is more your speed, join us for coffee hour after the service. Links for both can be found in the weekly email.
On Jan 21 we are going to join Open Temple in Venice Beach online for “Blue Meet Red / Red Meet Blue… Disagreement for the Sake of Heaven.” The hope is for discussion, compassion and understanding across the aisle. We are starting small with 10 people from each congregation. Five liberal and five conservative. This will be guided conversation for us to find our common humanity, care for one another and maybe even some grace when we strongly disagree on politics or social justice issues. If you are interested in being one of the 10 from St. Cross please email Rev. Rachel at [email protected].
On Jan 31 after the 10 am service we will have our annual meeting. This is when we will vote in our new Vestry, elect representatives to go to our diocesan convention, review the budget that the Vestry passed for 2021, and answer questions in general about the health of our congregation. Please, please, we need you to attend. We hope to keep the meeting to under an hour with much of our communication coming out ahead of time in the annual reports for you to read.
We will be resuming our discussion on race and faith later early this year. Stay tuned for more information.
Peace and blessings for 2021,
Rev. Rachel+
