Leadership of the congregation is the primary role of the Chancel Choir. In song, in prayer, or in any ritual movement, the choir is there to serve as a kind of prompter for the congregation. The choir supports and enhances congregational singing.
In addition, the choir offers up anthems and other choral musical pieces on behalf of the people. As the choral singing of an anthem is to be thought of as an offering, so too is the dedication and commitment of time and effort on the part of every single choir member.
