Weekly Reflection from Our Junior Warden
As your junior warden, I have been asked to contribute to the weekly email while Rev. Rachel is on sabbatical. As I pondered what to share, both the St. Luke’s Shower Ministry and St Cross Ushering came to my mind to share.
St Luke’s Shower Ministry………
St Cross is partnering with St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Shower ministry to provide meals and support to individuals experiencing homelessness. The duties associated with this ministry may include:
1. Meal planning and preparation: Organizing the menu and coordinating with volunteers to plan nutritious and balanced meals for the homeless population. This may involve considering dietary restrictions or preferences of the guests.
2. Cooking and serving meals: Preparing soup in a in the St Cross kitchen facility and coordinating volunteers to help with food preparation. Ensuring that meals are served with care and respect to the individuals accessing the services.
3. Setting up and cleaning: Arranging tables and any necessary equipment for serving meals.
4. Welcoming and engaging with guests: Providing a warm and welcoming environment for guests, interacting with them in a respectful and compassionate manner, and fostering a sense of community during meal times.
5. Collaborating with volunteers and community partners: Recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers to assist with meal preparation, serving, and other related tasks. Building partnerships with St Luke’s Episcopal Church to maximize support for those in need.
Aug 18 &19 St Luke’s Shower Ministry, Food prep and distribution. The St Luke’s ministry is always looking for volunteers. If interested or have any questions, please reach out to myself or Josh Paget.
Ushering at St Cross……
As an usher, my primary duties would include welcoming parishioners and visitors, assisting them in finding seating, distributing service bulletins or programs, collecting offerings, and guiding the congregation during the Communion or Eucharist. Ushers also help maintain order and ensure a smooth flow of worship services. Additionally, we may assist with special events, such as weddings or funerals, by directing guests and providing any necessary support. The usher ministry is always looking for volunteers. If interested or have any questions, please reach out to myself or Marilyn Young.
Peace,
Lizabeth Thompson
