Two Major Announcements and Some Odds and Ends

First, as you know there are many activities that take place during a coffee hour on a Sunday morning or even during announcements in our service. One of them is to alert you to when an Eagle Scout or Golden Scout is working on their project. Connor Wadhams was just gearing up to speak to you when COVID-19 hit and we closed the building and went to online service. So here in Connor’s own words is his ask for support for his Eagle project which will take place on July 12.

Hi! My name is Connor Wadhams, and I am a Life Scout working on my Eagle Project. I have been in Boy Scouts since elementary school and am at the final stage where I have done all the requirements for Eagle Scout status except the Eagle Project. My project entails leading a construction project requiring materials and supplies. I would normally fundraise at my church on Sunday but it has been delayed due to the COVID-19, so I am asking the wider community to help. For my Eagle Project I will be making new benches and barriers for St. Cross Episcopal Church. These benches will not only benefit the church but the other organizations that meet there as well such as Temple Shalom students and adults, St. Cross parishioners, 12-step groups waiting to meet, dog walkers who come through our lot and would like to sit down. The barriers will be used when the church holds events as well as when they sell spaces in the parking lot during Fiesta Hermosa. Many people will use these, and I need help to raise the money and proceed with the project. Thank you to anyone who donates in advance.

Thanks!

Second, this week the diocese has asked all of the clergy to “take the Sunday off.” To that end there will still be two ways for you to attend church this Sunday. First is on Bishop John Taylor’s facebook page. He will be going live at 10 am. Just go to his page and you should see the live feed. The second option is to go to the National Cathedral for their 8:15 am (11:15 EST) service and you can find the service here.

NOTE: There will not be a coffee hour this week, but we will see you a week from Sunday after the 10 am service.

In addition we want to let you know a few other odds and ends:

  • Forward Day by Day booklets are on the bench by the office if you want to pick one up
  • There will be more information late next week about signing up for a time to walk through the “Stations of St. Cross.” This is the first step to re-opening the building. Any and all time on the St. Cross campus will require a “reservation” and also the wearing of a mask at any time you are out of your car on our campus.
