Special Service of Compline on May 25 at 7pm

Yesterday we received news of the school shooting that took place in Uvalde, TX. At this time, 19 children and two adults are dead. This occurred just days after 10 people were murdered in a grocery store in Buffalo, NY and a mass shooter killed one person and injured more in a church in Orange County.

This evening, Wednesday, May 25, the people of St. Cross are invited to gather for An Order for Compline at 7pm over Facebook live in which we will remember those who have been killed by gun violence. We hope you can join us for this service here.

Below is a prayer that has been adapted from a liturgy offered by Bishops United Against Gun Violence along with a video from our Presiding Bishop, Michael Curry.

Most compassionate God, we hold before you all who have died from gun violence in our land. We remember especially the children and adults who were killed in Uvalde, Buffalo, and Laguna Woods. We lift our voices in sorrow and frustration knowing that every life is infinitely valuable to you. Receive all who have died into the arms of your mercy, bless those who mourn with the hope of eternal life, and work through our hearts and hands to bring about your justice and love on this earth. This we pray in the name of the one who overcame the power of death, your son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
