Father Greg Kimura Featured in Ventura County Star for Work in Ojai
The Ventura County newspaper has an in-depth article on former St. Cross Assisting Priest, the Rev. Greg Kimura.
For the past six months, Father Kimura and other church members have been visiting spots around Ojai to distribute cards to immigrants who may be living in the country without legal permission.
The visits are part of a broader effort by Kimura and his church to reach out to Ojai’s immigrant community.
The church, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, aims to offer assistance at a time when anti-immigrant rhetoric and rumors of deportation raids are pushing people without legal residency further into the shadows
“Being welcoming of the most vulnerable people in the community, that is precisely the work that Jesus was doing,” said Kimura, who launched the sanctuary efforts after becoming pastor of St. Andrew’s on Jan. 1. “This is really a moment of truth for churches. How we act right now, we’re going to be judged by that and we’re going to be remembered by that.”
