Faith@Five October 23rd
This coming Sunday, Oct. 23rd, we will host the first Faith@5 service. Faith@5 is an informal family service that will take place in the St. Cross Parish Hall at 5pm the 4th Sunday of the month. We’ll worship in a new style that will be geared towards helping families practice faith at home. The service will also include the Eucharist, so you don’t have to come to church in the morning (unless, of course, you really want to — Rev. Rachel will make sure to give you extra brownie points if you do!). Below are some things to know about the evening:
Christian Formation Classes
There will be NO Sunday School in the morning on Oct. 23 for our Upper Elementary, Middle School, and High School classes. HOWEVER, Godly Play (3 year old – 2nd grade) will still meet at their regular time at 9am on Oct. 23. This is to accommodate younger children who show up to church and for families for whom coming to church in the evening doesn’t work.
Meal
St. Cross will provide a simple meal the evening of Faith@5 — pasta, salad, and bread. If you would like to bring a side dish, or desert, or some drinks to share that would be awesome! However, please know you don’t have to bring anything to come to Faith@5. Your presence is more important than bringing food.
Order of the Evening
Below is the basic order for the evening. If you’d like to come a little earlier, folks will be in the Parish Hall at 4:45pm. We’d like to start as close to 5pm as possible to get everyone back home in time to finish homework, get ready for the week ahead, etc.
- Welcome (5 mins)
- Age Appropriate Breakout Groups (20 mins)
- Family Dinner and Discussion (40 mins)
- Eucharist (20 mins)
- Dismissal (5 mins)
Nursery
The Nursery will be open starting a few minutes before 5pm for infants to 3 year olds for those who would like to drop their little one’s off with our wonderful Nurser Workers.
Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions. We hope you and your family can join us at 5pm on Sunday!
Peace,
Stephen
