Faith and the Olympics

Faith and the Olympics

No, I am absolutely not commenting on the Opening Ceremony.

However, this week has got me thinking about how following faith/church/Jesus are like the Olympics.

10. They are for both teams and individuals

9. The more you practice, the better you are

8. You meet new people along the way

7. There are those that watch and those that do (and both are needed)

6. Music is played to mark important moments

5. They can often be misinterpreted by outsiders

4. They can take place anywhere, but often have special locations for what happens

3. Discipline, routine are par for the course.

2. They make you hold your breath, laugh, cry, and hope for the best

1. All are welcome

See you Sunday, if you aren’t home watching the Olympics. If you are, take a moment to give thanks for your faith and your faith community.

ps–and in four years I will need ten days off so I can go be a Chaplain in the Olympic Village. Thanks in advance!
