Children & Families
Dear Families,
Christian formation at St. Cross kicks off this weekend! Children and youth 3 years old through 12th grade are all welcome to join us. For children under 3 years old, the Nursery will be open starting at 9am. Parents, please make sure to fill out the attached Christian Formation Registration form for your children (more forms…hooray!) I’ll also have hard copies on Sunday if you’d prefer to fill it out then. See below for more details.
We hope to see you on Sunday for St. Cross Day and the start of our program year. Don’t forget to wear red!
Christian Formation Classes | Sunday, Sept. 11 at 9am
We’ve made a few changes to the structure to our Christian formation/Sunday School program. Our hope is that these changes will allow St. Cross children and youth to build a deeper sense of relationship and community with their peers and their Sunday School teachers. Below is how our formation classes will be structured:
- Godly Play: 3 year olds – 2nd grades
- Upper Elementary: 3rd – 5th graders
- Middle School: 6th – 8th graders
- High School 9th – 12th graders
I’ll be outside the Education Wing on Sunday directing traffic and showing children which classroom they’re in. Please find me on Sunday if you have any questions!
Nursery | Sunday, Sept. 11 at 9am
After being closed throughout the pandemic the St. Cross Nursery is back open for business! Our wonderful Nursery Workers will be available this Sunday to watch your children starting at 9am. The Nursery is available for newborns to 2 year olds.
All Parent Meeting | Sunday, Sept. 18 at 9am
Parents and guardians, come learn about Christian formation opportunities for the children and youth at St. Cross. We’ll meet on Sept. 19th at 9am and cover the various formation opportunities for young people at church and talk about why church is relevant in our rapidly changing world.
Acolyte Training | Sunday, Sept. 25, 11:15am-12:30pm
Calling all acolytes! Join us after church on Sept. 25th for our annual acolyte training. Acolyting is a great way for young people to participate in the ministry of the church and to learn about the Episcopal liturgy. Brand new acolytes AND veteran acolytes, please plan to attend. All 4th graders through high schoolers are welcome to participate.
Peace,
Stephen
