Advent Begins: Messiah, Prayers, Pageant, All-Parish Advent Activity

Handel’s Messiah Sing-Along on Sunday, December 1 at 3 PM: We have added the Sing-Along as an event on Facebook, giving you an easy way to say you are coming and to tell others about it! The Sing-Along starts at 3 PM, and know that if you are uncomfortable singing, coming to listen is an equally wonderful way to kick off Advent!

All-Parish Advent Activity, Sunday, Dec. 1 at 11:30 AM: Join us for a family-friendly craft activity that will help us enter into the Advent Season! This year we will be making “Advent Jars” that will provide short activities for families and individuals as we count the days until Christmas. The All Parish Advent Activity will take place AFTER the service on Dec. 1. Hope you can make it!

Christmas Pageant Rehearsals: Pageant rehearsals begin THIS SUNDAY, Dec. 1, during the Sunday School hour. Practice for the pageant will continue Sunday the 8th, Saturday the 14th (by call times), and then Sunday the 15th at 9 AM in Sunday School and at 11:15 AM and 3 PM, with the performance at 5 PM.

Did You Know… Prayers of the People During Advent: When Mary, Jesus’ mother, visits her cousin Elizabeth, Elizabeth responds by declaring how blessed Mary is to be pregnant with Jesus. Mary responds in a beautiful, prayerful poem, known as the Magnificat (the Song of Mary), which can be found in Luke 1:46-55. Every Sunday in this season of Advent, our Prayers of the People are based upon the Magnificat.
